About Piapot First Nation
Piapot First Nation (PFN) is located northeast of Regina, with a population of approximately nine hundred members on reserve. Piapot controls lands which are comprised of over 19,000 hectares located throughout Saskatchewan. With an abundance of community programs, we take pride in our Nation, ensuring we maintain our cultural and spiritual teachings, which are of utmost importance in our daily operations.
Job Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Health Director, the Medical van Driver will provide transportation to Piapot First Nation community members to access medical services such as appointments with physicians, hospital care, publicly funded diagnostic tests and preventive screening programs, in accordance with Non-Insured Health Benefits (NIHB) Medical Transportation Policy Framework. PFN Health Services Medical van driver assists clients to access medically required health services that cannot be obtained on the reserve. This position will require a valid driver’s license and will be checked regularly.
Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Ensure the safety and comfort of community members during transport by maintaining Health Services van in safe and sanitary conditions, adhering to traffic laws at all times.
- Knowledge of methods for safely assisting in the movement of clients with mobility issues, which may include persons using wheelchairs or walking aids.
- Knowledge of principles and methods for safely transporting people by passenger vehicle in adherence with the Saskatchewan Traffic Safety Act.
- Ensure that confidentiality as per policy is maintained.
- Report maintenance issues to Health Director and ensure repairs are completed.
- Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly logs, records and reports as required by SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) and PFN (Piapot First Nation) Health Services.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:
- Must have Valid Drivers License, clean drivers abstract
- First Aid/CPR
- Criminal Record check
- Safely lift up to 50 lbs.
- Flexible hours will be required of candidate as there may be extended hours and weekends.
