Piapot First Nation is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Finance & Administration Officer to join the Lands, Resources & Economic Development (LRED) Department.
This position provides essential financial and administrative support to ensure departmental finances, land revenues, permits, leases, records and reporting are managed accurately and efficiently. Working closely with the LRED Director, Lands Officers, Finance Office and external partners, the successful candidate will help strengthen accountability, transparency and sustainable economic development within the Nation.
Key Responsibilities
The Finance & Administration Officer will:
- Oversee departmental budgets and track revenues, expenses and financial commitments.
- Manage permit, lease and land-use revenues, including payments and outstanding accounts.
- Maintain accurate, organized and confidential financial and land records.
- Support financial reporting, audits, funding requirements and RLEMP obligations.
- Provide administrative support to the LRED leadership team.
- Coordinate with the Finance Office, Indigenous Services Canada consultants, auditors and other partners.
- Help improve departmental financial, administrative and record-management systems.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures and reporting requirements.
Education and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Post-secondary education in business administration, accounting, finance or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- Two to four years of experience in an administrative or finance-related role.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- The ability to prepare clear financial and administrative reports and summaries.
- An understanding of confidentiality and records-management requirements.
The following are considered assets:
- Experience working within a First Nation government environment.
- Training in financial systems, records management or First Nation administration.
- Familiarity with land administration, permits, leases or program-based funding.
