Health Centre Custodian – One Full-Time Position Available (Deadline to Apply April 30)

The Piapot First Nation Health Centre is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for staff, clients, and visitors. Responsibilities include daily cleaning and disinfecting of offices, treatment rooms, public spaces, and restrooms, along with proper waste disposal and restocking of supplies. The role also involves light maintenance duties and seasonal tasks such as snow removal and lawn care. This position plays an important part in upholding health and safety standards in a healthcare setting and supporting the overall wellness of the community. This position will require a valid driver’s license and will be checked regularly. 

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Establish and maintain a regular cleaning schedule for daily, monthly and annual tasks.  Cleaning includes but is not limited to sweeping and washing floors daily, washing and disinfecting washrooms daily, washing walls and windows regularly, wipe down furnishings and equipment daily, and cleaning the kitchen area as needed.
  • Responsible for the operation and maintenance of cleaning equipment such as buffing/stripping machine, vacuum, and rug shampooer.
  • Responsible for preparing supply orders and forwarding to manager for proper authorization.
  •  Responsible for ensuring snow removal from walkways and entrances in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring the same locations are free of ice and hazards.
  • Responsible for reporting any minor building maintenance of the mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Responsible for removing garbage from the facility daily.
  • Responsible for ensuring that proper health and safety precautions are taken when handling and storing chemicals.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all necessary health and safety standards for the operations or maintenance of a public facility.
  • Any other such duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies:

  • Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance infection control guidelines for Public Health.
  • Physical capabilities to perform commercial cleaning tasks as well as lifting, moving and maintenance tasks.
  • Must be of pleasant, professional manner as well as being punctual, reliable and dependable.
  • A valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle.
  • Must possess the ability to develop and maintain a daily, monthly, seasonal and annual cleaning schedule.
  • Must possess the ability to take direction and work with minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to prepare minor reports and maintain an inventory system.
  • The ability to manage confidential information strictly and reliably.
