Chief Payepot School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Principal to ensure high levels of student success through instructional leadership, implementation of educational programming and services. This position will oversee and manage all staff of the Chief Payepot School, including all teachers, education assistants, support and administrative staff. This position will serve and protect the interests and integrity of the students, parents or guardians, and staff.
The principal will:
- Efficiently and effectively manage the delivery of the education program(s) and budgets
- Manage and direct the education sector personnel
- Supervise and implement all administrative and financial regulations
- Ensure staff and contractors are informed of all policies
- Promote public relations and parental involvement
- Identify community/program needs and recommend expenditures
- Administer HR policies within the school, including recruitment, staff relations, and performance evaluations
Responsibilities
Instructional Leadership
- Administer education programs aligned with community and student visions
- Lead, coordinate, and organize academic activities
- Maintain program policies aligned with provincial standards
- Guide teachers and staff to improve student leadership and success
- Monitor budgets and expenditures
- Evaluate program effectiveness
- Develop proposals for alternatives to Income Assistance
- Maintain standards for curriculum, discipline, and performance
- Promote academic achievement through programs and activities
- Report student performance to the Ministry of Education
- Engage with parents about academic and behavioural performance
- Support student personal and social development
Financial Management
- Oversee all financial operations in line with Piapot FN policy and ISC
- Develop and manage school financial procedures and budgets
- Handle payroll, supplies, student supports, and maintenance
- Prepare and monitor departmental financial statements
- Submit reports per FHQ requirements
- Maintain client files and ensure confidentiality
- Monitor purchasing and financial transactions related to social development
Organizational Development
- Contribute to and support the strategic plan
- Facilitate communication between Chief and Council and Administration
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education and 3+ years of relevant experience (or a Bachelor’s with experience in Education Administration)
- Valid Saskatchewan Teaching Certificate
- Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
- High level of initiative, confidentiality, planning, and organization
- Able to work under pressure with minimal supervision
- Skills in conflict management, budgeting, and team collaboration
- Understanding and respect for Piapot First Nation cultures and traditions
- Ability to work effectively with community and leadership
- Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Must be in good standing with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation
