The Board of Directors of Piapot Family Shelter Inc. is pleased to announce the appointment of Arlene Ridgway as the organization’s first Executive Director.
Arlene brings a strong background in leadership, administration, finance, early childhood education, and First Nations service delivery. She has worked in a variety of roles within Treaty Four Territory and with non-profit organizations in Regina, bringing valuable experience in both community-based programming and organizational operations.
Most recently, Arlene held a management role within a Children’s Housing department at a non-profit organization, where she provided leadership, staff supervision, program oversight, and support to children and families. Prior to that, she served in administrative leadership roles with Nekaneet First Nation, including Band Administrator, Executive Assistant, and IRA.
Arlene also brings extensive training and certification in key areas that align closely with the work of the shelter, including trauma-informed care, Mandt, Mental Health First Aid, addictions, and First Nations cultural perspectives on grief and loss.
The Board believes Arlene’s combination of leadership experience, administrative knowledge, cultural understanding, and commitment to trauma-informed care will be a significant asset as Piapot Family Shelter Inc. prepares to open and serve individuals and families experiencing violence.
Arlene believes that all people have the right to safety, dignity, culturally grounded support, and trauma-informed care. Her values align strongly with the vision of Piapot Family Shelter Inc. and the work ahead.
Please join us in welcoming Arlene Ridgway as she begins her new role as Executive Director.
