Vice Principal – Chief Payepot School

Chief Payepot School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Vice Principal to support high levels of student success through strong instructional leadership and the effective implementation of educational programming and services. Working closely with the Principal, the Vice Principal will assist in the supervision and development of all school staff, including teachers, educational assistants, support personnel, and administrative staff. This role is centered on upholding the best interests of students, families, and staff, while fostering a respectful, inclusive, and culturally grounded school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional leadership to K–12 educators, supporting culturally responsive and high-quality teaching practices
  • Foster a positive school climate built on respect, inclusion, and student success
  • Support student behavior and well-being through fair and restorative practices
  • Assist in staff supervision, mentorship, and professional development
  • Strengthen relationships with families, caregivers, Elders, and the broader community
  • Promote and embed Cree language, culture, and traditions throughout school activities and curriculum
  • Oversee daily school operations including scheduling, safety, and policy enforcement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) required; a Master’s degree or coursework in Educational Leadership is considered an asset
  • Valid teaching certificate and appropriate administrative credentials
  • Experience in school leadership, preferably in Indigenous or rural settings
  • Strong knowledge of and respect for Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and holistic student development
