Piapot First Nation is seeking a Pre-Kindergarten Teacher for Chief Payepot School, located on the beautiful Piapot Cree Nation.

JOB SUMMARY
Chief Payepot School is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced PreK Teacher to join our instructional team. The successful candidate will provide developmentally appropriate, culturally responsive early childhood education, support children’s social-emotional and language development, and collaborate with staff, families, and Elders to create a nurturing, culturally enriched learning environment that reflects the values and traditions of Payepot Cree Nation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high‑quality, play‑based and developmentally appropriate programming for PreK learners, including language, literacy, numeracy, social‑emotional, physical, and cultural development.
- Integrate Cree language, culture, and traditions into daily activities, routines, and classroom environments.
- Promote a positive classroom climate focused on safety, respect, inclusion, and holistic child development.
- Use fair, restorative, and trauma‑informed approaches to support behaviour and well‑being.
- Assess and document child development and learning, maintain accurate records, and communicate progress with families and caregivers.
- Collaborate with colleagues, school leadership, Elders, early years specialists, and community partners to support programming and transitions to Kindergarten.
- Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school events.
- Contribute to classroom and school routines, safety procedures, and policy implementation as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education (B.Ed.)
- Valid teaching certificate.
- Experience in early childhood settings, preferably with PreK or kindergarten‑entry programming.
- Strong understanding of and respect for Indigenous cultures, languages, and traditions, preferably with experience in Indigenous or rural community contexts.
- Excellent communication, classroom management, observational, and collaborative skills.
- Commitment to equity, inclusion, and the holistic cultural, social, and emotional development of young children.
