Piapot First Nation is seeking a Child Oral Health Initiative (COHI) Aide to join the Piapot Health Services team.
The COHI Aide helps promote healthy teeth and gums within the community through oral health education, preventive services and community engagement. Reporting to the Director of Health, the successful candidate will work closely with families, schools, community members and health programs to encourage healthy oral health habits.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete required COHI Aide training and annual refresher training
- Assist with obtaining authorizations and consent for COHI services
- Apply fluoride varnish in accordance with established protocols
- Provide oral health education to clients, parents and caregivers, prenatal groups and community members
- Book clients for services with oral health professionals
- Provide support to oral health professionals during client visits
- Complete other training as required by Piapot Health Services
Qualifications
Applicants should have:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Ability to complete COHI Aide training
- Ability to work effectively with children ages 0–12
- A minimum of two years of experience with reporting activities
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- An understanding of privacy legislation
- A dependable and punctual work ethic
- A valid driver’s licence
- A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
Ability to speak Cree is considered an asset.
